Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s premier safari destination, offering a chance to see the Big Five.
Itinerary:
Early Morning Departure (5:00 AM): You will be picked up from your hotel and depart for Akagera National Park, located in the eastern part of Rwanda.
Game Drive (8:00 AM): Upon arrival, embark on a guided game drive through the park’s diverse habitats. Look out for the “Big Five” — lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffaloes — as well as a variety of other wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and hippos.
Mid-Morning Wildlife Viewing (10:30 AM): Continue your game drive as you traverse savannahs, woodlands, and wetlands. Your guide will provide expert commentary on the animals and their behaviors.
Picnic Lunch at Ihema Lake (12:30 PM): Enjoy a packed lunch by the picturesque Ihema Lake, where you may also see crocodiles and a range of waterbirds such as African fish eagles and pelicans.
Boat Safari (2:00 PM): Take a boat safari on Lake Ihema to get up close to hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. This is an excellent opportunity for photography and learning more about the aquatic life in the park.
Afternoon Game Drive (3:30 PM): After the boat safari, head out for an additional game drive to spot any wildlife you may have missed earlier in the day.
Return to Kigali (5:00 PM): After a full day of wildlife adventure, return to Kigali, arriving by 8:00 PM.
