Training

The best preparation for Kilimanjaro is walking. Try to walk daily and add aerobic activities like running or cycling. On weekends, do long walks (6-8 hours) to build endurance.

The Trekking Day

The trek starts early, and you'll walk for several hours each day. A support team will carry your heavy equipment, and you'll camp in tents at night.

Conditions

Be prepared for rain or snow, with temperatures varying from 20°C during the day to below zero at higher elevations at night.

Acclimatization Tips

  • Drink 4-5 liters of water daily.
  • Walk slowly to conserve energy.
  • Take an extra day for acclimatization if possible.

Altitude Sickness

Serious cases require immediate descent. Guides are trained to handle altitude-related issues.

Baggage

Carry only essentials like waterproofs and water bottles. Porters will carry the rest of your gear in a duffle bag.

Local Transport

Travel will be in 4WD vehicles or minibuses, depending on the road conditions.

Visa Requirements

A valid passport (with at least 6 months beyond your stay) and a visa are required. Visas cost $50 on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport.
